Lower Lines Park

This walk from St Mary’s Island to Lower Lines Park explores historic military features, including defensive earthworks and a reconstructed bridge that were part of Chatham Dockyard's fortifications. The route passes the site of the former Admiral’s house, known as Admirals Gardens, and Mid Kent College, which housed a World War II bombproof underground command centre now beneath its car park. Informational boards along the path provide details about the park's historical events.
