Northward Hill is a beautiful RSPB nature reserve, offering a wealth of sights and sounds for visitors throughout the year. In autumn, you can spot flocks of blue tits and great tits flitting through the woodland. Rooks and jackdaws gather to roost, while redwings and fieldfares can be seen among the trees. If you’re lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of a short-eared owl hunting during the day.
The walk through the woodland is especially lovely, eventually opening out to reveal a stunning view over the Thames Marshes. If the weather has been wet, be sure to wear boots—the clay-rich mud can be very sticky and cling to your feet!
