Details

Winter has come and gone and Spring is definitely in the air. In fact the weather has been so nice recently that one could almost hope for a bit of British Summer this year.

So that obviously means that it's time for another MUGL. This time around we've got Stephen McKearney of the BBC. Stephen is responsible for a system at the BBC known as Nitro which manages all the metadata about BBC programming. It's a huge, mission critical system that is implemented in MarkLogic. To make the system robust, they've had to develop some innovative ways to deploy MarkLogic clusters into the cloud.

From Stephen:

Continuous Delivery and MarkLogic

Over the past year the BBC’s Programme Metadata team has created a continuous delivery pipeline for its MarkLogic application, the Nitro API, producing substantial improvements in reliability and robustness.

This talk will describe some of our experiences creating a repeatable process for continuously delivering a MarkLogic application. We will review MarkLogic features that support continuous delivery and discuss the benefits of doing testing in the production environment.

Stephen Mc Kearney is Engineering Manager of the Programme Metadata group at the BBC. The group is responsible for publishing programme metadata to BBC Online and has been working with MarkLogic for four years

This MUGL is at our usual venue, the Theodore Bullfrog Pub next to Charing Cross Station. We're in the event room upstairs, stairway is at the back.

As usual, show up around 6:30 for free drinks, food and mingling. The speaker will start around 7:00 and go for an hour or so. After that is more more free drinks (we have our own bar) until they kick us out.

Join us for the 2016 Springtime MUGL, you'll be glad you did.
