Te Tiriti o Waitangi - Partnership and Participation

27 January 2026, 6pm to 8pm
Porirua City Hub
Brought to you by Multicultural Collective and Te Tiriti is Us
For any questions, please email kiaora@multiculturalcollective.nz

Join us for an informal and illustrated kōrero (conversation) looking at how we can live honouring Te Tiriti in Aotearoa New Zealand. We will cover some history of two cultures living together – Tangata whenua and Tangata Tiriti.

  • What life was like before the treaty
  • The impact of the treaty from 1840 to the establishment of the Waitangi Tribunal in 1975
  • Changes from then to today
  • Discussion about how we can all live as good treaty partners

In collaboration with Te Tiriti is Us, a not-for-profit and non-partisan project encouraging all New Zealanders to consider Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the partnership it created as a crucial part of our history, democracy, and identity.
