What we’re about
Cis-white-het-able-spiritual-female here trying to open up the kind of space I'm looking for.
If you are someone who lives life through multiple languages at any degree on the fluency continuum and you want to play around with writing in a way that reflects that reality this group is for you.
I understand the definition of translanguaging to be when languagers (thats us, authors, speakers, whoever) use ALL their linguistic abilities to TRANSCEND the limitations of any one of their languages.
An example might be the word cariño in Spanish. Sure, we could say kindness or love, but that doesn't quite get at it does it? How about semisomnus in Latin? Half-asleep or Half-awake does the job, but something about somnus here rests so beautifully between those two states, right?
This is a space open to all fluency levels, all ethnicities/nationalities, all education levels, and all writer's mediums (talking is pre-writing; wat if u write like u text? totally cool.)
We will copy "LowState Writing Salon" structure (another group I highly recommend and have enjoyed): someone choose a topic or short excerpt from a model text, we write for 15 minutes, then we share what we wrote and some positive feedback only.
