Talk:
From Events to Insights : Building Real-Time Analytics Systems

Abstract:
Building User Facing Real-Time Analytics Systems is hard. Apache Kafka is the de facto standard for real-time event streaming, but what do you do if you want to perform user-facing, ad-hoc, real-time analytics too? Since most OLAP systems are not designed to analyse data streams in real time with millisecond latencies required for any user-facing application. Apache Pinot solves it, and the two together are like chocolate and peanut butter, peaches and cream.
During this session

  1. We will explore how pioneers in the streaming world like Linkedin , Uber are solving this problem.
  2. Introduction to Apache Pinot , and deep dive into Pinot Architecture
  3. Delve into what makes Apache Pinot fastest OLAP by peeking under the hoods of the query engine
  4. An action-packed demo, showing just how easy it is to go from events to blazing-fast analytics, and how to use powerful features of both systems that help you do this at scale.

You will walk away with a solid understanding of the challenges unique to a user-facing real time analytics system, and how Pinot and Kafka work harmoniously to solve them and how easy* it is to go from events to insights

Talk:
Stream Processing for the non-JVM world: pyflink and kafka-python

Abstract:
This session explains the need for a unified stream processing engine and explains the architectural pillars of Apache Flink. The session would also throw light on ‘modern Data Platforms’ and how Kafka and Flink are fuelling manufacturing use cases. For a non-JVM user, this is the best time to explore these frameworks using popular languages like python.

Bio:
Developer Advocate at Confluent, ex-AWS Data Analytics Specialist, ex-Google Cloud - Data platform specialist. Designed and implemented ‘Modern Data Platform’ for large scale enterprise use cases. Worked at the intersection of Data(Spark, Flink, Kafka, Kinesis, Redshift, Iceberg, Glue, Hive) and AI(torch, sagemaker, vertex ai,kubeflow) at cloud scale (AWS and Google Cloud).
