Talk:
Harnessing Kafka: Bridging Application Needs with Kubernetes Scaling
Abstract:
In the session, I’ll take you through a journey of transforming a monolithic application into a microservice based system leveraging Kafka. The talk begins with an overview of the original application architecture and the challenges it faced in scaling. We’ll explore how introducing Kafka as a service layer resolved critical application-level issues.
Next we would explore how scaling the architecture created problems and how configuring Kafka helped fix them, eventually becoming the backbone of the system. Attendees will gain insights into architectural considerations, the integration of Kafka in a distributed environment, and the lessons learned while addressing the complexities of modern scaling needs. This talk is ideal for developers and architects interested in learning how Kafka can empower applications to scale efficiently in distributed, cloud-native environments.

Talk:
Kafka Stretch Cluster Deployment Strategies
Abstract:
In this session, we will explore various deployment strategies and their impact on consistency, resilience, and failover. We’ll discuss multi-data center scenarios, including configurations with 2, 2.5, and 3 data centers.
Additionally, we will introduce the Automatic Observer Promotion (AOP) pattern and how it can help administrators and support teams achieve peace of mind—ensuring fewer late-night disruptions.
This session is ideal for architects and administrators interested in Disaster Recovery (DR) strategies, with a focus on achieving near-zero Recovery Point Objective (RPO) and Recovery Time Objective (RTO).
