GREAT LAKES KASHMIR
An epic Himalayan trek with stunning vistas of sweeping lakes below and majestic Himalayan peaks above. The area is truly paradise, wildlife, the variety of landscapes will astound you; Beautiful mountainous peaks, pristine lakes, cascading waterfalls, luxuriant forests and million dollar views around every corner. The great lakes of Kashmir trek is 8 day all inclusive guided trek exploring Indian Himalayas. The trek includes all transport, meals, snacks and waterproof jackets. Accommodation will be in our special high altitude tents and you will be led by our expert guides.

DETAILED ITINERARY
The logistics and planning required for an 8 day trek on Great lakes trek can be a little overwhelming. So we have planned the whole itinerary to make sure that you are able to relax and simply enjoy your Great lake trek. From your pre-trek briefing to ensure that you are adequately prepared, to lunch stops throughout each day, ensuring that you don’t miss any of the trek highlights. We have thought of everything to ensure your safety and comfort.

DAY # 1 Pre- Trek Briefing base camp SonamargIn the evening day before your departure you are required to attend a pre-trek briefing. Here you will receive complete outline of what to expect, be provided with equipment, given an opportunity to purchase last minute required items, complete the required medical forms and meet fellow trekkers.

DAY #2 Sonamarg - Nichnai (Altitude Gain 2500 Meters – 3505 Meters)|
Your adventure begins from Sonamarg base camp; we leave from the base camp early morning after breakfast 8 Am for Nichnai. The view on the first day is undoubtedly glorious. You will climb a wide and well-formed trek from Sonamarg to Nichnai via Shekdur Meadow, here you can sit among the birch trees and enjoy lunch. You then descend to river valley after gradually climbing through the lush birch forest. The river valley is the beginning of Nichnai, surrounded by mountains each side. Our campsite is located at the far end of this beautiful valley.

DAY #3 Nichnai to Vishansar Lake Via Nichnai Pass ( Altitude gain 3505 Meters – 4120 Meters – 3658 Meters)
We will leave the campsite by 8 am and start with a long walk in meadows; the trail slowly starts ascending following one hour climb to Nichnai pass and enters the world of daisies, buttercups and many more flowers. By the evening we will reach our campsite at Vishansar Lake. Surrounded by huge mountains, unknown and not accessible to humans, this is a crystal clear lake filled with shimmering blue – green water that will mesmerize you.DAY #4 Vishansar to Kishansar to Gadsar Pass to Gadsar (Altitude Gain 3658 Meters- 3750 Meters – 4300 Meters – 3658 Meters)
We will leave the campsite by 8 am and start hiking up towards Kishansar Lake, which is located just 250 meters above Vishansar Lake. Kishansar is another beautiful crystalline lake, untouched and unpolluted gift of Mother Nature. This will follow a lengthy and steep climb towards Gadsar pass – 4300 MTS the highest point of this trek. After the pass it will be relatively easy walk mostly through meadows except one short steep descent. You will walk through a sea of colourful shrubs before reaching third lake – Gadsar. Another beautiful lake with break taking views. Our campsite is located a little further from the Gadsar Lake.

DAY #5 Gadsar To Satsar (Altitude Gain 3658 Meters – 3660 Meters)
Take your time and enjoy the dramatic landscape of Himalayas. Your guide will take the scenic route through the meadows, the toughest part of the trek is over and now you will have to climb just one small cliff. This is the most relaxing day of the trek, as it is easier and shorter than previous days. Our next campsite is an absolutely glorious green meadow mostly filled with hundreds of sheep’s grazing.

DAY #6 Satsar to Zaij Pass to Gangbal Twin Lakes (Altitude gain 3660 Meters- 4085 Meters- 3506 Meters)
We will leave the campsite by 8 am, after trekking half an hour out of the campsite; we will reach a continuous ascent over the rocks, which are followed by steep green meadows. The day’s path is toughest with every new hill hidden behind by the previous, a total 2 hours ascent brings you to Zaij pass – 13400 feet. The best view from here is the view of Gangbal twin lakes. The route descends a bit and ascends again to the lake. An hour and a half steep descent brings you to the green meadows brings you to the shore of Nundkol lake- one of the twin lakes. The lake lies at the base of Harmuk peak. The Gangbal Lake is 20 minutes from Nundkol Lake; both the lakes are famous for trout fishing.

DAY #7 Explore Gangbal Twin Lakes
Today take your time and enjoy the dramatic landscapes around the Gangbal twin lakes, before descending to the Alpine Pasture of Naranag flat. Enjoy your day around the lakes and best option is to get some fresh water trout.

DAY #8 Gangbal to Naranag ( Altitude Gain 3506 Meters – 2255 Meters)
Your day will begin with gentle slopes and green meadows and few rocky patches followed by a descent walking through pine forests. The slope is gentle and comfortable initially eventually becoming steep to the point of putting tremendous impact on your toes and knees. The descent ends in the stone paved village path which takes you to Naranag.
