Program:

Bernard Andrès (b. 1941) Chants d'Arriere-Saison for cello and harp
Bernard Andres is French harpist who has turned to composition as his main focus.

Maurice Ravel (1875-1937) "Introduction et allegro" for flute, clarinet and string quartet. Maurice Ravel might be best known for his "Bolero", but had a more "impressionistic" style in general, although he rejected the term, and explored jazz influences as well. He reached acclaim in his lifetime as one of France's most celebrated composers.

Jean Cras (1879-1932) Quintet for harp, flute and strings. Jean Cras led an unusual life as a naval officer who eventually rose to the high rank of rear admiral and even developed a navigational plotter/protractor, all the while composing music. His lyric opera was perhaps the most successful, and his later compositions have been compared to those by Bela Bartok and Cesar Franck.

Camille Saint-Saëns (1835-1921) "Fantasie" for violin and harp
You might know "The Swan" from The Carnival of the Animals by Saint-Saëns, but he wrote many other pieces in the Romantic Era of classical music and was the teacher of Maurice Ravel, who held him in high regard.
