Synopsis : Foul Play is a razor-edged, darkly comic two-hander where nothing and no one are quite what they seem. At its centre is Ava Sterling—composed, magnetic, and impossible to read. When she glides into a bar and strikes up a conversation with Larry Fernandes, a silver-tongued man in his fifties, the stage is set for a night that defies expectations. What begins as casual conversation soon unfolds into a finely tuned exchange of glances, stories, and subtle shifts in power. Larry may think he’s leading the dance, but Ava’s intentions run deeper than they appear. As the night progresses, masks slip, and the line between predator and prey blurs beyond recognition.
Blending classic noir with sharp humour and modern edge, Foul Play dives into the delicate art of manipulation, the danger of assumptions and the thrill of not knowing who’s really pulling the strings.Playwright: La Plume Commune writers collective

True power lies in the people who won’t let you fall when you take that first step into the unknown. In improvisation, it’s the players who lift each other up that make the whole ensemble shine. In this workshop, we’ll explore the art of letting go of ego in order to truly serve the scene — and each other. Together, we’ll cultivate a safe and inviting space where everyone feels seen, heard, loved, and inspired to play. With attentive eyes and open hearts, we’ll learn to recognize the small signs — a twitch, a hesitation, a flicker of doubt — and respond with unwavering support. Through this, we bring out the best in our scene partners and ourselves.
We'll revisit foundational concepts of on-stage support, build reliable support mechanisms, and maybe even discover some new ones. Now more than ever, it’s important to remember that an ensemble is a (temporary) community — and as Alexandre Dumas put it: “All for one, and one for all!”
**Sarah will be performing with Bake This on Wednesday, November 19 so you can see her in action!
