Munich Explorers Club 60th Presentation Evening

Dear fellow Explorers!

After a long long break, we are finally back again!
And we revive the MEC at our new exciting location: GLOBETROTTER at Isartor kindly makes its great event area available to us. It is spacious, easy to reach, and equipped with a high end projector and sound system.

The next event will take place on Jan 16, 8pm.

Keep in mind that the new location is: Globetrotter, Isartorpl. 8-10, 80331 München.
And please be on time: entrance will close at 8:10pm!

Presentations on this event (in no particular order):

1. Maha Kumbh Mela - The largest Gathering in the History of Mankind
How does it feel when nearly 700 million people come together in one place? What leads them there? Where do they sleep? What do they eat? Where does all the waste go? How is this even possible? And how do tens of millions of people move in and out of this place every day? Find out in this story of a magical and exhausting trip to the largest gathering in the history of mankind!

2. Everest Base Camp Trek - A childhood dream becoming reality
The Everest Base Camp Trek is probably one of the most spectacular hikes worldwide, roughly 2 weeks time, up to 5.500 meters in altitude and 6.700 meters going uphill ending at the Mount Everest Base Camp. It is a dream for many hikers and has been a longlasting dream for me since my childhood - finally fulfilled in November 2024.

3. A Year in the (Local) Wild - 200 hours of Citizen Science in a Hidden Biotope
A personal curiosity led to a year of repeated field observation in a small biotope. Over 200 hours in the field revealed unexpected biodiversity, exposed hidden pressures, and helped trigger new protective measures.
