After stops in the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Austria, our Gaussian Splatting & 3D Scanning Workshop is coming back to Munich.
📍 Location: XR Hub Munich – Deutsches Museum, Forum der Zukunft
📅 Date: March 27
🕙 Time: 10:00 – 16:00
Over the past months, the technology has evolved significantly. Participants who attended both workshops in Nuremberg emphasized how much workflows, software, and hardware have advanced in a short time. This edition is therefore not a simple repeat, but a substantially updated and expanded workshop.
What to Expect:
Introduction to modern 3D spatial capture
Photogrammetry & current Gaussian Splatting workflows
Hands On Live scanning demonstrations
Processing and optimization for real-time, web, and XR applications
Discussion with developers and XR specialists
A special focus this time is on bringing high-resolution scans onto standalone headsets. We will demonstrate optimization strategies and show how, using Level-of-Detail (LOD) systems, we successfully prepared complex datasets to run smoothly on a Meta Quest and Pico.
Hardware Highlight: PortalCam
This workshop also features the PortalCam by XGRIDS.
The device is optimized specifically for high visual quality in Gaussian Splatting workflows. Participants will have the opportunity to test the system on-site and directly experience the workflow differences.
Joining us again:
Colt Chen from XGRIDS
Johannes Müller
Thanks & Support
Special thanks to Insa Wiese and Start into Media for their funding support, which made this workshop possible.
We also thank Silke Schmidt and XR Hub Bavaria at the Deutsches Museum for hosting the event and supporting us on-site.
We’re excited to be back in Munich and to show what has evolved in recent months.
If you’re interested in current 3D scanning workflows, visual quality, and practical XR deployment, you’re very welcome to join us.
