One obvious use case category for Blockchain technology is the field of Supply Chain. Goods are have to be globally distributed in an efficient and effective way - a requirement blockchains provide in an exemplary manner.
At this meetup, we will discuss the status quo of blockchain use in supply chains, with a special focus on tracking, tracing and supplementing supply chains with sensor data based insurance policies.
Our first speaker is Stefan Fröhlich, Head of Section , Innovation & Single Risks Global Marine Partnership at MunichRe. Stefan has been working with Munich Re since 1990. He started his carreer as underwriter for marine reinsurance business and after several different positions within the compay he is running since 1st Oct, 2018 a newly set up business unit within GMP (Global Marine Partnership) which is evolving marine insurance solutions in a more and more digital environment. Among those digital topics are the IoT, truth authentication and DLT
Stefan will describe how Blockchain can be used to insure valuable goods based on sensor data..
Our second keynote will be held by Dr. Thomas Endress, Executive Director, founder and head of a technology start-up at Merck KGaA, Darmstadt. This digital venture builds on the companies’ performance materials business and leverages the security materials portfolio for IoT and T&T solutions in Pharma, Life Science and other safety-oriented industries. A novel combination of security materials, cryptography and specific types of Blockchain technologies are at the center of a solution that is intended to become a new business for the company.
Thomas will show us how valuable goods and their product memories can be anchored and therefore tracked and graced securely.
Last, but not least, Philipp Kothe, Blockchain Consultant at Datarella, will present the latest stage of Track & Trust, the blockchain-powered tracking solution Datarella is developing in collaboration with ESA, humanitarian aid organisations and startups in the field of space technology.
