Organizer Update, May 1, 2025:
Hello members,

This message is a follow-up to the update I posted on March 26, 2023.

I am still waiting for some clarity regarding my federal job before planning an event. I hope to have a better feel for my long-term employment prospects by the end of June. I would certainly like to have an event before this summer's end. In the mean time we can certainly start discussions about what we would like to do without yet spending any money or making concrete plans.

When I still lived in Phoenix I had a circle of friends who held several of these parties from a manufacturer called Decipher. Those games are built around a dinner party. For food and drink we would all through in some money and get take out from a restaurant that's food matched the game as much as possible. The remainder of the money would be used to buy beverages.

We, however, are strangers to each other. My first question for the group is, what suggestions do you have for handling the menu?

Organizer Update, March 26, 2025:

To all members...I apologize for not organizing a murder game yet. I am a federal employee and have been worried about coming layoffs. If my job survives I will try to arrange a party. One necessary step before having a party is to find a location. I thought about using AirB&B or VRBO, etc. Feel free to suggest alternatives. Can anyone contact me through meetup? I only have their basic membership so there are some things I can't do as a group organizer.

HERE IS WHAT THIS GROUP IS ABOUT:

I and some friends are trying to form a group to throw murder mystery game dinner parties. Do an internet search for “How to Host a Murder” to learn more about the games published by Decipher, Inc. but don’t search for which characters done the deeds! Those games require 8 participants. Each game published by Decipher has 4 male characters and 4 female characters. We’re a few members short so we are trying to connect with other persons who are interested in some dinner party fun. The current members are all in the Warner Robins area. New crew members don't have to be local, though. We just all have to gather in person during the parties.

Some may think it’s childish but I say it’s innocent, adult fun and maybe also child like in that participants have to let go of their fear of seeming silly and just have fun. We become amateur actors for the night, dress as our characters, laugh, enjoy dinner, and try to solve a murder! Chemistry among the participants is vital so some of the current members would like to meet potential partiers before holding an event, if possible. If an in-person meeting is not possible we could also arrange a video call using Zoom or Skype.

If you are interested or want to learn more take a risk and contact me through Meetup. You have nothing to lose. You could have an unexpectedly good time and maybe make new friends, too.

PLEASE NOTE: our group includes gay and lesbian members and we envision our murder mystery dinner parties being open to well-intentioned persons of all sorts.
