New York Botanical Garden - Yayoi Kusama’s Epic ‘Cosmic Nature’

Details

We will meet in front of the Mosholu entrance near Mosholu Parkway at ~10:45am. I have a pony tail and will be wearing tinted glasses and red tee shirt. Mosholu entrance is the recommended entrance for most of those taking public transportation. If your driving and the lot at NYBG is full, there will be signage placed out to informing visitors to park at the Bedford Garage, NYBG's facility at 401 Bedford Park Blvd, which is also near the Mosholu entrance. I found the map on NYBG not very useful, you might prefer to refer to Google maps is you'd like a visual. **** **** **** **** **** My apologies for not having the following information earlier: A friend who is a long time member of NYBG has informed me that most of the Kusama exhibit is indoors, which I believe has been sold out for quite some time. I made the assumption that the indoors part of the exhibit was closed due to Covid restrictions as NYBG was still enforcing. My friend informed me that....... "There is very little to see outdoors at the Kusama exhibition. Balls floating in water. Trees wrapped in polka dots, a mirrored box, and two large sculptures (five things in total). " However...... "The roses will be blooming, and maybe the peonies. There should be plenty of blooms to see at the: Rosen Seasonal Walk, Perennial Garden, Ladies Border, and the Home Gardening Center." Also, the Mark Morris Dance Group outdoors for free at the NYBG on June 5th starting at 2pm. See link: https://markmorrisdancegroup.org/event/contemporary-dance-series-new-york-botanical-gardens/ Also, parking on Saturday is $20 per vehicle. I hope this does not make for too expensive an outing for anyone who is equally disappointed as I am that the bulk of the Yayoi Kusama’s Epic ‘Cosmic Nature’ exhibit is unavailable to the outdoor tickets. W E L C O M E B A C K ! ! ! Looking forward to seeing old faces and the new ones that have signed up. It's just good luck that this particular event was planned with hopes for this date THIS NEXT PART IS IMPORTANT - You must buy tickets in advance for this event - these are timed tickets. I have moved the start time to the 11am to allow for traffic. Go to - https://www.nybg.org/visit/admission/?keyword=tickets - then select "KUSAMA Garden Pass Outdoor installations, grounds" for June 5th at 11am. Tickets for adult are $25 If in case you don't read this message in time and the tickets are sold out, please message me to let me know. I purchased two extras, so hopefully you won't be left out. Event write up: https://secretnyc.co/yayoi-kusama-new-york-botanical-garden-exhibit-spring-2020/ NY Botanical Garden Webpage: https://www.nybg.org/ Please be advised - According to Google Maps, it's approximately a one hour trip from NY Penn Station via mass transit. Meet up location will be somewhere near the gates, exact location TBD ......also there are COVID-19 rules at NYBG you need to know: The New York Botanical Garden follows CDC and New York State guidelines for the safety of visitors and staff. We have implemented more frequent cleaning and disinfecting of all areas, social distancing, staff health checks, and anyone who is feeling sick or symptomatic is asked to stay home. Visitors are required to wear face coverings, regardless of vaccination status: • In parking lots, and when entering or exiting the Garden • Indoors and on the tram • While waiting in line or interacting with staff • In high density areas where it may be difficult to maintain six feet of distance • When participating in NYBG programs We reserve the right to request that visitors who do not follow our guidelines leave the premises. An inherent risk of exposure to the coronavirus (COVID-19) exists in any public space where people are present. People visiting The New York Botanical Garden do so at their own risk as to such exposure as well as other risks inherent to outdoor public spaces.
