I like to think I’m somewhat well grounded the sciences. Yet even in my world, there are an ever growing number of respectable peer reviewed journals that approach psychedelics academically, and what is being published is objectively nothing short of a revolution in medicine and healing in the making.

Over fifty years ago, politicians inserted themselves between medical practitioners and people in need of healing. In that respect, it was a dark age.

While this political opening still exists, our group will offer an intensive class explicitly in The Cultivation of Psychedelic Mushrooms. This will be a practical class that will assume no prior mushroom growing experience.

Having said that, I promise that this class will be fun !!!

This class will teach proven methodologies with no hype. They'll be no need for expensive HEPA filters. In fact, you should be able to buy all your mushroom growing lab essentials for $200 to $300, and the knowledge you'll pick up in this class will allow your production to be scalable from grams to pounds.

You'll be able to begin growing with spores, cultures, or actual fresh mushrooms with relative ease. We'll also cover more than just the standard *Psilocybe* cubensis, and will most certainly cover the genus *Panaeolus* \- "The Cadillac of Psychedelic Mushrooms\."

While this is the first psychedelic mushroom growing class to be offered, there is one caveat.
We will be using a legal surrogate culture in class instead of psychoactive culture.

This culture will grow very similarly to many of the psychoactive cultures you may use in the future.

Here is a quick overview of the topics we'll be covering. The majority of the lessons will be hands on. That's, by far, the best way to learn the techniques required for growing.
I'd be happy to address other topics as they arise in class, and if you feel I've missed any major topics that should be on this list, please let me know.

* An overview of the psychedelic mushroom growing process.
* The fundamentals of sterile technique (We will review HEPA/ULPA filters, and still air boxes, but will not being using these. They are cumbersome at best.)
* Creating a lab and clean room. (If you are in a house or apartment, the microbiologically cleanest room is your bathroom).
* Necessary equipment (a few hundred dollars at the most)
* Starting cultures from spores (and spore syringes), established cultures (and mycelial syringes), and fresh mushrooms.
* Agar formulations for mushroom growth, and how to plate and transfer live cultures
* Liquid culturing mushroom mycelium (we will go over hydroponic mushrooms, a thing you will never want to use, but can work).
* Growing cultures on grain.
* Picking and mixing an appropriate fruiting substrate for mushroom production.
* How, why, and when to case your substrate.
* Environmental control of your growing area (both small and large).
* Harvest and preservation of mushrooms
* Growing more than one crop (fruiting) from substrate.

This class will assume that you have no previous mushroom growing experience, but ultimately the class will progress to advance techniques. This should not be overwhelming even for "newbies" since we'll be progressing at a manageable pace. In fact, this class should be fun.

The class will take place in the central Tucson metro area. The exact location will be announced at least a week prior to the class date.
It will take place beginning early evening on Friday September 29nd (around 6:30 pm), with full day classes on both Saturday and Sunday (September 30th and October 1st). There will be lunch breaks on Saturday and Sunday.

Most of the class time will be learning what and why we are going to do something, followed by actually doing that something. I really believe that hands on learning really sticks in one's memory, but only if you understand why you are doing the task.

I really enjoy the entire process. As a hobby or profession, I think you can't beat it!

The cost of this three day event is $650, which includes all supplies.

Because payments will be used to purchase supplies, there are no refunds. We will be happy to try and fill your place with someone else if possible; in which case we will use their payment to refund you. There will be breaks throughout the day. Class size is limited to approximately 8 students to maximize teacher/student personal instruction.
