It's time to co-work!

For now we're experimenting with time and locations and first up is Tuesday, August 4th at 4:45-6:45PM at Harder Day Coffee on North Williams in PDX.

What to do:

  1. Introduce yourself. If someone seems busy, please do not interrupt them. People may be busy if they are already speaking with someone else, focused on their laptop/typing, drawing/writing. However, you must interrupt me no matter what and introduce yourself to me (he/they)!
  2. State your intention. You can tell me or a pal what you're going to work on. No pressure beyond that. You're here to leverage the energy your community is bringing to support each other.
  3. Buy something (optional). It's the polite thing to do as we use their space. This is a newer business and supporting the employees, many of whom live in the neighborhood, is good etiquette. I will post the menu closer to the day. They have coffee, iced tea, sandwiches, and pastries. (Note: this may not be vegan or allergy friendly. We'll try better next time!)
  4. Celebrate your wins! Around 6:30, 30 mins before close, I'll ask everyone what they accomplished so we can celebrate you. If you didn't get anything done I will be militant about finding the silver lining and celebrating anyway.

What to bring:
Whatever you want to work on (though it's encouraged to bring something that relates to your business)! Whether it's hobby or work, this is your time to use--you're just here to get feuled by the room's energy.

What to consider:
Noise. This is a relatively quiet(er) space which requires a quiet(er) presence. When we're at loud(er) locations, that expectation obviously changes. Just be mindful and respectful.

FAQ

  1. What if I'm not officially diagnosed with ADHD?
Those who are self-diagnosed, undergoing assessment, or are other types of neurodivergent (AuDHD, ADHD, etc.) are welcome.
  2. What is parking like?
Street parking is limited, however, my experience has always been that the side streets do have parking and you won't have to walk too far. There is no lot. There is a bus stop about 100 feet from the coffee shop.
  3. What time does it end?
6:45 PM. They close at 7 PM and I like to give people time to close down.
  4. I see you're a neurodivergent coach. Are you trying to sell anything?
I am not selling anything. In fact, you can ask me any question about your neurodivergence and you'll get some lite, free coaching from me without any strings. This group is for community support.
  5. What is the space like?
There is one single glass door entrance and one emergency exit through the back room/kitchen. There is a single-stall, all-gender restroom with a vacancy lock for clarity. The drinks are ordered at the register and delivered at the opposite end of the counter, closest to the door.

There are cooler items for sale near the end-counter and near the register. There is another cooler behind the counter that you don't have access to. The water station is between the workspace and the backroom/kitchen. You are allowed to get water for yourself.

This is a bright space that faces west, so the sun will be shining through the windows at this time. There are two leather lounge chairs, but everything else is arranged in four-top table by pairing 2 two-tops. The floor is concrete. Only assistance animals are allowed if you want to bring a pet.
6. What if I show up after 4:45PM?
You are absolutely still welcome! This is your time, though the closer to 5PM the better! Just be mindful about interrupting anyone but me.
