MVD Cookout 2025! and Tour De Patapsco Day 8

Man pavilions get booked quick in Patapsco! As such we already have the date and pavilion booked for this years cookout / picnic! Just like past years we will be partying rain or shine, under the cover of the pavilion in Pickal!

So what's the plan? Waiver: We need you to confirm you are coming and confirm you have read and understand our waiver. Mountain biking is a risky sport. BBQ / Cookout: Like in years past, MVD plans to provide Burgers and Hot dogs for the event. The rest we are looking for help from everyone who is coming (i.e. pot luck). We have a sign up sheet via Google Sheets/Forms where you can see what we still need for the event, and where you can sign up to bring something. Rides! Don't expect any epic distances this day. We are all about getting out on an awesome / fun ride, and getting back for some food off the grill, comradery, some beverages, and maybe some good door prizes. We are planning 3 separate rides of 3 different lengths / abilities all leaving 30 minutes apart with the plan to have everyone back about the same time. Rides will be shorter to get back to the cookout. Routes are only 5, 10, and 16 miles long, but just know the 16 is some of the hardest terrain in the park. The 10 has some big ups and downs with a little rock thrown in for fun. The 5 miler has a big up and down, but also has the 3 mile NICA loop making it a bit more manageable for even a weekend warrior/begintermediate. Here are the routes:

What time? The park opens at 9am, so get there early to drop stuff off, where the rides will happen: The faster / longer ride will leave at 10:00 AM. Intermediate at 10:30, and Begintermediate at 11:00 AM. We expect the routes to get everyone back between noon and 1pm where the food will be waiting!

Where? The Pickall area of Patapsco Valley State Park (see location for pin to get there). We will be in Pavilion 705 (basically go straight until you dead end at a parking lot. There are two pavilions right there. We will be in one of them (It's the one Trail Fest has been at the past few years, and where our picnic was 2 years ago).

What Else? Expect Door prizes after the ride. We are thinking we will start to hand out tickets when everyone gets back from the rides, and start raffling stuff off at 1pm. At this point we have no idea what we will have but usually we get some good stuff! Ugh. Ran out of time for this. Maybe next year. Sorry..

Schedule:
9am - Park Opens
10am - Longer / Harder ride rolls out
10:30am - Intermediate ride heads out
11:00am - Begintermediate ride heads out.
Noon to 1pm - Rides come back, we start food / beverages
1:30 PM - Let's do a picture!
