MVD Cookout 2025! and Tour De Patapsco Day 8

Details

Man, pavilions get booked quick in Patapsco! As such we already have the date and pavilion booked for this years cookout / picnic! Just like past years we will be partying rain or shine, under the cover of the pavilion in Pickall!

So what's the plan? Waiver: We need you to confirm you are coming and confirm you have read and understand our waiver. Mountain biking is a risky sport. By signing up for this meetup you are agreeing to our MVD Mountain Bikers waiver located here: Link to MVD Waiver ( https://drive.google.com/file/d/1xZnTHPXQGY5UggdumfoksN3uwdocnadK/view )

BBQ / Cookout: Like in years past, MVD plans to provide Burgers and Hot dogs for the event. The rest we are looking for help from everyone who is coming (i.e. pot luck). We have a sign up sheet via Google Sheets/Forms where you can see what we still need for the event, and where you can sign up to bring something. Link is here: Fill out this Google Sheet

Rides! Don't expect any epic distances this day. We are all about getting out on an awesome / fun ride, and getting back for some food off the grill, comraderie, some beverages, and maybe some good door prizes. We are planning 4 separate rides of 4 different lengths / abilities, all leaving 30 minutes apart, with the plan to have everyone back about the same time. Rides will be shorter to get back to the cookout. Routes are only 9, 14, and 16.5 miles long, but just know the 16 is some of the hardest terrain in the park. The 9 and 14 have some big ups and downs with a little rock thrown in for fun. And the other 14 miler is the last "Tour De Patapsco" and is also some of the hardest terrain in the park. Here are the routes:
Casual: https://www.strava.com/routes/3367210625775552564
Intermediate: https://www.strava.com/routes/3366942780922880338
Advanced: https://www.strava.com/routes/3366947203924191354

What time? The park opens at 9am, so get there early to drop stuff off at the pavilion. The faster / longer Advanced ride and Tour de Patapsco will leave at 10:00 AM. Intermediate ride leaves at 10:30, and Casual ride leaves at 10:45 AM. We expect the routes to get everyone back around 1pm where the food will be waiting!

Where? The Pickall area of Patapsco Valley State Park (see location for pin to get there). We will be in Pavilion 704 (After crossing the bridge over Route 70, shelter 704 is the third one on the right). This is different than the past years.

What Else? Expect Door prizes after the ride. We are thinking we will start to hand out tickets when everyone gets back from the rides, and start raffling stuff off at 1pm. At this point we have no idea what we will have but usually we get some good stuff! Trying to get this figured out. Hopefully we have time to make it happen!

Don't forget the couple $'s that it will cost to get into the park!

Schedule:
9 am - Park Opens
10 am - Longer / Harder and Tour de Patapsco ride rolls out
10:30 am - Intermediate ride heads out
10:45 am - Casual ride heads out.
1:00 pm-ish - Rides come back, we start food / beverages

Maybe a clinic if anyone is interested by Craig after the picture?
