My Village ATX

Hey, I’m Javan, but most people know me as Vonnie.

I moved to Austin about a year ago hoping to build real friendships, but after too many dead ends and “we should hang out sometime” conversations that never happened, I decided to create the community I was looking for.

My Village ATX is for people who are nervous about going out alone but genuinely want to meet others, make meaningful connections, and build real relationships—not just collect contacts or followers.

While this space is intentionally centered around creating community for people who look like me and share similar cultural experiences, everyone who comes with respect, authenticity, and a desire to connect is welcome.

The vibe may be ratchet sometimes, classy sometimes, and even a little quirky, because that’s real life. The vibe will never be violent, disrespectful, judgmental, or cold and distant. Our goal is simple: create a space where people feel safe, seen, and genuinely connected.

In a world that often feels disconnected, we’re choosing community over cliques, conversations over scrolling, and relationships over networking.
