Summertime Sand-ness trail, Lake Dips in Limburg!

I'm back from my summer travels and can't wait to reunite our community! I'm ready to hear all your summer stories and meet the wonderful new members joining us.

What’s a summer exploration without soft sand under your feet, a swim in turquoise lakes, and the magic of summer sky? This time, we’ll wander through a hidden gem in the Netherlands, where calm lakes reflect the vibrant colors of lavender fields and endless heather, creating a serene, magical atmosphere, perfect for sharing stories, laughter, and quiet moments. It’s a bit of a journey from Amsterdam (2.5 hours by public transport), but trust me, it will feel like a proper holiday trip!

We’ll navigate our own little ferry to reach a secret spot where we can rest, have a picnic together, and, for those who feel like it, take a dip. Along the way, we’ll pause at expansive heather fields, and forest; it will be a proper hiking day.

And to add a little medieval flair, we’ll explore a castle with a story, tucked into the landscape, it’s a small twist that makes this hike extra special!

As always, we’ll start from a town café to fuel up with great coffee and the must-try Limburgse vlaai before we set off.

What to bring:

• A water bottle and/or something to drink and rejuvenate,
• Your lunch + one item to share (chocolate, nuts, fruits, etc.) + any snack, if needed during the hike,
• Something to sit on during a lunch break.
• A swimsuit, if you desire to take a dip.

What to wear: It’s a free world but trust me! Comfortable hiking shoes feel good. We will be walking on the sand for a part of the hike.
