MySQL 9.7 introduces two major updates designed to address application development flexibility and query execution efficiency: JSON Duality Views and the Hypergraph Optimizer.

JSON Duality Views allow applications to interact with relational data as JSON documents while maintaining a single source of truth in normalized tables. This removes the need for data duplication and combines document-oriented access with relational consistency.

The Hypergraph Optimizer provides a new approach to query optimization. It allows MySQL to evaluate complex join relationships more effectively, generating better execution plans for multi-table queries to improve performance and resource utilization.
