Duration: 5-6 hours

Description: We will start and end this hike via Dawson Saddle. We will meet at Vincent Gap around 6:30 and car pool over to Dawson Saddle around 6:45 because parking is limited there.

The trail starts from the Dawson Saddle trail (7901’) with a steady grade incline of 1.8 miles to meet up with the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT). From there we will proceed on a quick ascent to the right 0.3 of a mile to Throop Peak (9138’) before retracing our steps back to the PCT for another 1.3 miles to Mt Burnham (8997’). This section of this trail is mostly on the ridge between Sheep Mountain Wilderness and Angeles National Forest, overlooking the Mojave Desert on the North and San Gabriel Mountains on the South. We will continue on the PCT for another 1.1 miles to Mt Baden Powell (9399’). We will take a well-deserved rest at the summit for snack/lunch, while enjoying the 360 degrees panoramic views. After our break, we will return the way we came and descend back down to Dawson Saddle enjoying a panoramic view of but the Inland Empire and the Mojave Desert as we travel along a few ridges that provide this fantastice view.

Recommendation: At least 3 liters of water/electrolytes , snack/lunch, Hiking shoes, Trekking poles, camera.

Directions: The drive to Vincent Gap/Dawson Saddle is far, 85 miles from my place in Whittier. Be sure to provide extra time for
traffic at least an hour and 45 minutes. Carpooling is highly recommended. A National Forest Adventure Pass (http://www.simpsoncity.com/hiking/adventurepass.html) is required for parking at the trailhead.
