First Meetup Back "together" Egret Nesting/Visit Rookery at Wacatee Zoo

Details

Heard that as of 4.12 no hatchlings yet but its about time for them to be here. Social distance as you are comfortable. There is usually room to spread out on the "bridge," overlooks the rookery.

This Rookery exists along Socastee Creek which is a tributary of the Waccamaw river. It has been there for ages long before the zoo. Along with the Egrets you will see several other Wading Birds making their nests as well. Additionally we have seen Ospreys, typical "backyard birds" and even Prothonotary warblers.

The doors open at 7:30 am. Cost PAID TO THE ZOO is $10.00 to head back to the hatchery. This cost is not to see the zoo. The zoo attendants can give you directions back to the hatchery/bridge where we will be (along with others not part of the group that come to see this spectacle). We will head back to the rookery so if you are running late just head back there.

Bring a camera or binoculars
