Blockchain v The Distributed Workforce

Details

You have heard about blockchain, but ever wondered how the crypto hype could change the way we work?

Blockchain technology has some inherent features that could help us build the next generation of work platforms that are fairer and more effective.

Where is this new technology being applied in people management and HR?

  • Identity verification mechanisms, also including qualifications, work history and references
  • Decentralised career networks so people can monitise their own data rather than give it away for free and reduce the need for intermediaries and associated fees
  • Paying a variety of workers using digital smart contracts, making payment speedier and with less remittance fees
Don't worry, we will assume zero knowledge of blockchain!
We will give you a basic overview that will give you enough knowledge of the basic concepts.
We will showcase some leading start-ups in this fast-moving space, including:

Etch - real-time wages and payroll for hourly and salaried workers

R_Block - decentralised hiring network & work identity proof

TiiQu - decentralised professional passport using the trust quotient

Vault - the world first blockchain powered counter-harassment platform

Gigachain - a technology platform to protect workers worldwide from exploitation and labour abuse

The event will start at 6pm, with an introduction to Blockchain, and the opportunities in HR, followed by the start-ups, a panel discussion on “Will Blockchain Revolutionise The Way we Work?” which will finish around 8.30pm with networking and drinks.

Your Host - Andy Spence - I have worked on over 20 transformation programmes in different sectors and geographies. My passion is making work better and fascinated by the intersection of people, technology and organisational change. My recent research paper, "Blockchain and the CHRO" was published by the Tapscotts Blockchain Research Institute.
Networking, drinks, and canapés to follow.
