 GitHub Africa/GraphQL Berlin Meetup + a raffle! ๐ŸŽ

Details

Join us on November 29, 5 PM CET, for this very special online edition of GraphQL Berlin Meetup, where we join forces with the GitHub Africa Meetup group! ๐Ÿ’ช

Connect with GraphQL enthusiasts worldwide, get inspired by the talks, and join the Q&A session.

During this meetup, we will host a raffle, where you can win a copy of the "Designing Data-Intensive Applications" by Martin Kleppmann. ๐ŸŽ

Our superstar lineup:

๐ŸŽ™ Alex Ruheni (@ruheni_alex) - "Type-safe GraphQL APIs with Prisma and Nexus"

In this talk, you'll learn the value and importance of type-safety, code-first vs schema-first approaches of building GraphQL APIs, building type-safe GraphQL APIs using Nexus, and to top it all off, how to add database access to your GraphQL API using Prisma.

Alex is a Developer Advocate at Prisma, where he's working to make databases easy and fun. He loves learning and teaching other developers. Every once in a while, he procrastinates by preaching to other developers to adopt Ts. He's also a mediocre photographer at best โ€“ but the camera covers that up for him

๐ŸŽ™ Eli Perkins (@_eliperkins) - "Unlocking Static Type Superpowers with GraphQL Introspection"

Ever wondered how that GraphQL definitions become static types in TypeScript or Swift? Curious how an HTTP request to a GraphQL server can end up returning a whole GraphQL schema? At GitHub, weโ€™ve been exploring and shipping some unique new ways to leverage GraphQL introspection and put the static types and API contracts to good use. In this talk, weโ€™ll dig into the nitty-gritty of GraphQL introspection and how you can use static types to build stellar products.

Eli is a mobile engineer, working on GitHub for iOS. Eli has been working with iOS since 2010, has a passion for pixel perfection, and loves to teach computers to solve problems so that humans donโ€™t have to. When heโ€™s not writing Swift, GraphQL, or Ruby, you can probably find Eli brewing a coffee and hanging out with his chatty Siamese cat.

๐ŸŽ™ Kudakwashe Mupeni (https://2wce.github.io/) - "E2E Testing for GraphQL API using Prisma, Docker & Jest"

To showcase that it's possible to write end-to-end tests for GraphQL APIs that make use of databases like MySQL and Postgres that are easy to reproduce since they make use of Docker. The test setup will also highlight how Prisma migrations and the seed command can help form a source of truth for the tests to run on.

Kuda is an engineering lead at Sovtech and has been a part of their team for 3 years now. He is passionate about serverless, tools that make the lives of devs easy, cricket & formula 1. He believes that in the right hands & with the required direction & focus, tech can positively change the world
