This will be a truly adventurous trip to the Masai area of Magadi. Lake Magadi is a soda lake south-west of Nairobi, a hot and dry area that can only be described as a hellish paradise. The scenery is awesome: there is some wildlife as well as flamingoes and numerous water birds on the lake. It is a shallow lake that gives the appearance of glass.

The Magadi Soda Company has been mining soda at the lake since the 1930’s. Magadi is a company town – perhaps the cleanest and the safest town in Kenya. The Company runs a fine railway line from Magadi to Konza, where it then joins the national grid for transporting the soda to the port of Mombasa.
