What we’re about
Hello and welcome to our amateur writing group!
If you're curious how writing can help in your everyday life, or if you love everything connected to words, and if you would like to try easy but powerful journaling methods in a friendly set-up and with a glass of vermouth (we're in Barcelona, after all!) – this is your group!
My name is Marusha, I'm a writer, book writing coach, journaling mentor, creator of the Naked Words writing program and founder of Barcelona Journaling Festival. I preach the superpower of feel-good writing to everyone. I use journaling for self-therapy and as dynamic meditation. It also works great to boost your creativity and overcome writer's block if you feel stuck or drained.
Feel free to follow my Instagram account for tips and inspiration!
My workshops are an eclectic mix of simple but efficient techniques such as guided journaling, expressive writing, narrative therapy, and personal storytelling. When we meet, I explain how different techniques work and then we scribble away our thoughts, feelings, and observations.
The group's language is English but you can write in your mother tongue, it's not an issue! Whatever makes you feel good and at ease.
Don't worry, you won't need to read to the group what you wrote (unless you really want to). This is not a fiction writing workshop, it's about your deep inner work and opening up by writing it down.
Why journaling is an excellent self-help method:
- Get to know your real feelings through simple but effective journaling tips
- Structure your thoughts, get honest with yourself and give your life a good seasonal clean-up!
- Write about important events of your life even if you're not a writer
- Get rid of writer's block and enjoy writing in a safe, supportive group of fellow amateur writers!
Everyone's welcome!

ABOUT THE ORGANIZER:
Hey there. I’m Marusha, founder of Girls Who Write. And yes, I’m that kind of girl myself, too!
Words have been my job all my life, but also my true passion. For years I’ve been working as a lifestyle & travel editor for Harper’s Bazaar, Grazia, and Aeroflot magazines, then switched to teaching storytelling and non-fiction writing. In 2022 I published my first book Not Just A Mom, my own manifesto and dedication to all creative women out there, who have mastered the art of juggling since becoming parents. After that, I realized how empowering a female community can be and how much we girls need our own tribe. This is when the idea of GWW was born.
I have also combined the wanderlust running through my veins, my experience as a travel editor, and my passion for writing to launch GIRLS WHO WRITE retreats. If you’re a words-lover like me, these transformational, creativity-boosting adventures are what you’ve been looking for!
I created the Girls Who Write community to support and include in the creative circle all the women who love words. It doesn’t matter if you’re an amateur novelist, seasoned journalist, screenplay writer, journaling fan, or a pure beginner in writing. Come join us – and never write alone again!

Writers' retreat by Girls Who Write
A little palace in Ginestar, Ginestar, ES✍🏻 Run away with the Girls Who Write club and start your 2026 in the best possible way – putting pen to paper!
Imagine getting away from it all to the beautiful century-old manor house and staying in the quiet and extraordinary environment, focusing on your writing, while everything else is being taken care of. Four days to empower your creativity for the whole year ahead!
If you are a woman struggling to find time in your always way-too-busy life to reconnect with your creative part, get back to what you always loved, or try what you've always dreamed of – like writing! – join us in this transformational, inspiring, and soul-nourishing escape by Girls Who Write!
📚 This retreat is all about your writing — whether you're exploring self-discovery through journaling, crafting memoirs, creating short stories or poetry, or finally bringing that long-planned book to life. My aim is to offer you a safe, nurturing space to connect with your words and creativity.
Dive into cherished childhood memories, share fascinating anecdotes from your life that could inspire a captivating story, or pour your deepest emotions onto the page and witness how your perspective transforms. I believe every woman is a natural-born storyteller, and every girl's life is a compelling book waiting to be written. Let’s uncover yours!
What to expect:
🧘 Yoga for your mind: we'll do mindful walks through the sleeping vineyards in the early morning, practicing embodiment and will playfully create fictional scenarios based in the town where nothing's going on :) Stretching our imagination and flexing that writing muscle!
📝 Journaling Workshops: Dive deep into your emotions, memories and experiences through guided journaling sessions, unlocking the power of self-expression and introspection under the guidance of Marusha, founder of Girls Who Write, Naked Words and Barcelona Journaling Festival.
📚 Writing buffet: try creating a memoir, a profound dialogue, a book character based on a person dear to your heart (even if you don't have any book in the works yet!) and explore some controversial topics in a safe, supportive community.
✨ Deep Connection to Self: Throughout the day, immerse yourself in moments of stillness and self-discovery, cultivating a profound connection to your innermost being and fostering a sense of inner peace and alignment.
🍤 Amazing food! We'll be served beautifully crafted meals by our private chef. The menu is Mediterranean, fish-based (you can opt for no fish/vegetarian), organic, and absolutely scrumptious! You'll be treated like royalty :) No cooking, no planning, no dishwashing, no worries...just indulge in writing and daydreaming, and let us take care of you.
### 🏠 The special place we'll stay at:
Our stunning modernist 3-story manor house in the quiet village of Ginestar – a petit palace – is full of antiques and charm with an almost museum feel to it. The early XX-century house is in perfect condition and has all the modern amenities. The windows open on the main square with a stunning view of the 14th-century church. It's a big house. Lots of space and natural light!
