Virtual BIPOC Support Group
Details
Welcome all black, indigenous, and people of color! NAMI SF's BIPOC community holds support groups on the 2nd and 4th Monday of the month. The groups are dedicated to holding space for the mental strains placed on BIPOC individuals. The intersection of mental health and race is unique and deserves understanding and support! Join us to hold space and support and encourage each other through whatever challenges we are facing.
Each group starts with a check-in. During check-in, everyone shares briefly about what they are coming into the group with and if they would like to have a longer share during the main discussion. We then move into the discussion portion. The facilitator calls on participants so they may share more in-depth. Some example topics we discuss in our groups are microaggressions, stereotyping, discrimination, relationships, and medications. No one is required to speak in our discussion -- we get support just by showing up :) Note, all facilitators in this group are BIPOC.
