MONDAY: Nile Creek

Details

Approx 15km/375m accumulated elevation gain @ "a notch over" moderate pace, however, for safety, pace will be slower thru the tricky/muddy spots. Not for beginners!
You s/b @ minimum a strong “B/moderate” level hiker or higher to enjoy this longer hike. Not suitable for anyone with balance/cardio/knee deficiencies.
Short snack break along the way.
Pet-free hike/NO DOGS please. No Pit toilet (however, there's one close by @ the end of Linx Road).

REMINDER: be prepared to show some of the Ten Essentials/First aid supplies that you carry in your pack-back. See Ten Essentials link below.

Join me by chasing some waterfalls, require at least 6 attendees please. The always MUDDY trail follows along Nile Creek which cascades thru a series of drops and pools of various sizes. The further you go upstream, the more spectacular the waterfalls. A rope section (bring gloves) assists you up a short/steep hill. To avoid going thru the MUDDY sections again, we'll take an old de-activated service road with steep cross ditches (will skirt around these, there may be some bush walking) out to the highway.
Note: we'll cross 2 southbound & then 2 northbound lanes and continue along a trail above the highway for approx 15 minutes, merge onto the Donkey trail, before dropping back down to Nile Creek and returning to vehicles.

Expect muddy and slippery with varied conditions and unstable terrain (log crossings, stones, roots & some blowdown). Hiking boots/shoes with good tread required. Gaiters and poles recommended.
