Maple Mountain Jaunt

Details

So, this would be a hike to the top of Maple Mountain via the Story and Xylem trails. I wouldn't consider the trails overly steep but it's a fairly steady climb utilizing trails and remnants of old and current access/logging roads. From the parking lot to the top, I would expect a hike of about 2-1/2 hours at a moderate pace. The view isn't the greatest, but we do get to see Cowichan and Maple Bays as well as Salt Spring Island. The trail itself is quite nice to walk. Coming down will take about 2 hours and while we can use the roads, it is much easier on the knees walking on the trails. Bring the appropriate gear and 10 essentials please.
