This is an urban/recreational, walk with a moderate pace. Plenty of stairs & stepping over roots & rocks.
Distance: about 5.5 km
Duration: about 1 3/4 hours .
Duke Point is a very thin peninsula across the estuary from downtown Nanaimo. The park's trail provides access to pristine beaches with excellent views of the Nanaimo River estuary, & downtown Nanaimo, Protection Island and Gabriola Island. Biggs Point is the name of the park along one side of Duke Point, leading to Jack Point, the park that covers the tip of the peninsula.
The parking lot is at the end of Jackson Road.
