Ammonite/Snail

Details
Park @ the Benson creek Falls North Parking Lot. See & expand the attached Google map.
This version of Ammonite Falls area takes us into the dry Benson Creek gorge to see a meter wide rock impression of an Ammonite. (This is one big snail.) Ammonites went extinct about 66 million years ago.
So you have to be capable of descending & ascending a real steep & narrow trail. Poles & riding/fingerless gloves can help. After that, these forest trails will lead us twice across Benson Creek & past the falls. (Dry falls at this time)
2 New aluminum bridges provided by Nanaimo Regional District are opening this area up, and are better than crossing on the log seen below.
From rainforest to clear cut. Groomed, to steep muddy & slippery.
So you need to be physically fit for these trails.
About 7.5 km 250 meters elevation gain.
Outhouse @ parking. No dogs.
