Mount Prevost is the 2 humped Mountain that is just to the North of Duncan, BC. It is 788m in elevation and is is popular destination for mountain bikers, hikers and more. It has a War memorial at the top as well as a flat area popular for hangliders to launch from. The trail that we are taking is approx. 5km each way and gains about 700m in elevation.
it meanders up thru forest and meadows along creeks before rising sharply to a rocky section to the top. The last 30-40 minutes is relatively steep with one short section of scramble with a rope assist. This hike is not appropriate for those with a severe fear of heights, or unable to complete the scramble.

Duration: approx 4 .5 hours
we will be doing both of the tops, up the rope and back down the by pass trail, average pace with occasional brief stops along the way

Footing can be slippery, varied and unstable (with stones, roots, etc). There are sections that have some steep uphill sections. "you must be comfortable with using a rope to help your self up to the next level "

What to bring

  • water and snacks/lunch
  • hiking boots (good grips essential on the way down!)
  • layers camera.. hiking poles, gloves for using the rope section

  1. Take the Trans Canada Hwy to Highway 18 in Duncan
  2. Take Hwy 18 West for 4kms to Drinkwater Road
  3. Turn right at Drinkwater Road
  4. Take Drinkwater Road for 400 meters and park near the entrance to Bings Creek Transfer station
  5. Trailhead is on the right off of Drinkwater Road
