So, you have been binging these last couple of months now and when you look in a mirror it appears that Christmas is continuing to hang on to you and doesn't want to let go. So, turn off the TV, roll onto the floor if you have to and crawl over to your hiking boats ana the rest of your gear as it's time to get back into hiking shape.

So this will be a slower than usual hike, partly from the Christmas season hangover and also the little thing of there being snow up on Mt. Benson these days, so lets plan for at least a 5 hour hike up and back ( though it is always possible to be a bit longer) leaving from the parking lot at Benson Regional Park near Witchcraft Lake. The distance is about 7 km with an elevation gain of about 700 meters. I wouldn't consider this a beginners hike, you would need to be in reasonable shape to enjoy and complete it. The terrain is steep and rocky in places and can be tricky coming down so this hike may not be a good idea if you have some knee issues. Pack something warm as it can get windy and cold.
Bring a bit of a snack/lunch, good footwear is important and you will need some traction for your boots such a micro spikes or something similar.
No doggies, cats or monkeys (musical or otherwise) please.
