8.8km/570m accumulated elevation, it's a consistent climb.
Please read full description and note that posted time(s) does not include travel time to and from Crofton.

You s/b a strong "B" hiker or higher to enjoy this hike. Not suited to anyone with balance/knee/mobility/cardio deficiencies.
Pet-free/NO DOGS please.
Washrooms onboard BC Ferries, pit toilet near summit.

Plan: Take the 8:55am ferry from Crofton to Vesuvius. Approx 1/2 hour drive to TH, so start hiking 10ish from Burgoyne Bay.
Consistent climb with a couple of nice viewpoints on the way up with amazing views of the Gulf Islands and Vancouver Island. The trail consists of a Garry Oak ecosystem at lower elevations, and old growth Douglas-fir above.
Short lunch break @ the top to enjoy the fantastic views of the Southern Gulf Islands and Sansum Narrows.
1/2 hour drive back to Vesuvius ferry terminal. Hope to catch the 3pm sailing back to Crofton (plan B, next ferry = 4:15pm sailing).

Carpooling: pre-arrange/comment below if you can drive/need a ride. Passengers pitch in for gas $$$/vehicle transport on ferry. Suggestion for Nanaimo folks...carpool from south-end Country Grocer parking lot. Park/meet in slots closest to highway.
I have a BC Ferry Experience Card so we can get the discounted rate for vehicle.
Seniors travel free, otherwise it's $12.75 return, note, this does not include vehicle. TIP: BC Ferry Experience Card offers a discount for vehicle.

REMINDER: be prepared to show some of the Ten Essentials/First Aid supplies that you carry in your pack.
It'll be a warm day, so be prepared - pack extra water etc.

Expect dry & slippery conditions with varied and unstable terrain (stones, roots & navigate over some blowdown). Hiking boots/shoes with good tread required. Poles will be beneficial especially for the descent.
