I am planning the Friday classes for deepening practice in July when I would like to introduce Shibashi Qigong. This is a flowing form of Qigong that has 18 movements. I will focus on the first 9 movements, learned in sets of three. The movements transition from one form to the next, letting the body move like water. Those who have been practicing qigong already will recognize many of the movements. The goal will be to learn all 9 and be able to follow along without verbal instructions by the end of July. These are slow, deliberate motions with deep abdominal breathing, making it suitable for people of all ages and abilities – whether standing or seated. The movements quiet the mind, help breathing and balance. It will be a lot of fun to learn the technique of each form and how to move smoothly from one to the next.
