Architecture & Design Film Festival Movies
Details
Come to a Movie Feast at the MTG later in May.
Join us for just one of the movies, 2 or to all 3. There are short breaks in between the movies for conversation and sharing what we have just viewed and refreshments at nearby cafe's.
There will be many thought provoking and inspirational movies at the Architectural & Design Film Festival coming to Napier as part of a National showing.
Tickets are required for each movie.
Starting at 1.45 for 80 mins we will watch The Harvard 5. A Story of Love, Architecture, and a Design Revolution. This documentary tells the story of 5 architects - visionaries who ignited a modern design revolution with Bauhaus- inspired designs.
Preceding this is a short film exploring the creation of a joint vision combining the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery and Len Lye Foundation in a single building in New Plymouth.

At 3.30 Parallel Universe begins.
Roy Good is a rare figure in NZ art: a painter, designer and spatial thinker. Working from his small studio in the wilderness of West Auckland he quietly pioneered one of the country's most consistent and original modernist practices.
This insightful documentary reveals an artist of global significance, working on the edge of the world.

Then at 5.15 The Great Arch runs for 108 mins.
In 1982, President Francois Mitterrand launched an International competition to design the flagship project of his term: a building to match and complement the Louvre and the Arc de Triomphe.
To the surprise of everyone, the commission is won by an unknown 53 year old from Copenhagen, Johan Otto von Spreckelsen. Inspired by remarkable true events we are lead through a historical drama, as an idealistic architect whose quest to build an ambitious landmark in Paris triggers unforeseen consequences.

Let's meet on the left hand side just inside the MTG 5 minutes before each movie so we can sit together.
The ticket price per movie is between $19.00 and $22.00.
Tickets are required for each movie.
After the first movie, for those that would like to, lets go a few steps around the corner for a coffee or a treat as the few close cafe's on Hastings St.
Then after the third movie we can go together and debrief over a Pizza at Vinci's on Hastings St.
We will be in contact with you when you RSVP.
We look forward to you joining us for one, two or all 3 of these movies.
