Join us for a walk down Napier’s historic Tennyson Street to discover the vibrant life inside some of our architectural gems.
Our journey begins at the Art Deco Centre in Memorial Square (noted as Clive Square on the map below), a restored building originally known as the Women’s Rest. From there, we will head up Tennyson Street to explore a series of National treasures.
Highlights include:

  • The Napier Municipal Theatre: A great showcase of design.
  • The Daily Telegraph Building: Step inside this historic foyer and explore the new Nectar Florists shop.
  • The Masonic Hotel: Explore its architecture and fascinating history near the oceanfront.

On our return loop down the opposite side of the street, we will head up the staircase of the Tennyson Gallery to browse local artwork in their new space. We’ll also pass the Public Trust Building—one of the rare structures to survive the 1931 earthquake.
To wrap up we will cross the road to Baked Cafe, located inside the repurposed Old Central Fire Station to enjoy a great coffee and a delicious treat.

When you RSVP I will be in touch with you via direct messages.
