Joy’s book is a central theme in her art installation on display at the gallery. Her works will be feature 6”x 6” drawings from the book as well as larger drawings measuring five feet in height. Her works will take up a third of the gallery’s overall space.
Having traveled in Europe from an early age and then living in Asia, Joy was deeply moved by the miniature artwork collections in Taipei. This love of finely detailed minutiae is a major influence on her work today.
Her artwork has been displayed in galleries located throughout the world. In 2007, Joy opened her gallery and showroom in New York City’s West Village, while creating installations in other galleries and business throughout the city. In 2017, at the Musee de la Toile de Jouy in Jouy-en-Josas, France, Joy had a solo exhibition as well as had an interactive miniature drawing event at the Musee.
Joy’s artwork will be on display at KAJ Gallery through October 12 along with ceramicist Chris Gustin, two-dimensional painter Paul Tamanian, sculptor Mark Dickson, and ceramicist Karen Shapiro.
KAJ Gallery is located at 462 Tamiami Trail between 4th and 5th Avenues North. For more information, call 239-234-7918 or visit www.kajartgallery.com.
