The Genesis Book

Our guest speaker is Aaron Van Wirdum, author of The Genesis Book, technical editor for Bitcoin Magazine, and the cohost of the Bitcoin Explained podcast. With a background in studying the historical influence of society-shaping technologies, he’s been covering Bitcoin and related projects since 2013. He is known for his ability to explain highly technical subjects to a layman's audience and specializes in topics including Bitcoin’s history, scaling, and privacy technology.

Bitcoin did not appear out of nowhere. For decades prior to Satoshi Nakamoto’s invention, a diverse group of computer scientists, privacy activists, and heterodox economists tried to create a digital form of money that could operate independently of government control. The Genesis Book tells the story of the people and projects that inspired the invention of the world’s first successful peer-to-peer electronic cash system.

Meeting Details
We spend the first 15 minutes socializing and having snacks. The presentations run from 7:15pm - 8:45pm. In this group we mostly focus on Bitcoin and its monetary and technical properties, we also discuss other blockchains, protocols, and ALL aspects of Web 3. We welcome all questions from Basic to Advanced and pride ourselves on being inclusive no matter where you are on your Web 3 journey.
