Care Packages For The Troops/Shelter for Abused Women and Children of Naples

Dear Naples Tea Party patriots and friends,

I would like to invite you to an upcoming event at the Pine Ridge Patriots Space on Sunday, December 18th, 2011. The location is one block north of Pine Ridge Road on the east side of US 41. The event will be at 10:00 in the morning and run till 12 Noon.

In the spirit of America's founding principles we will continue with our tradition of charity and showing gratitude.

At this event we would like to honor our veterans and our troops by putting together a care packages for soldiers deployed overseas.

Please bring any of the following items:

· Boxes (to pack the items)

· Baby Wipes - packets are better than tubs.

· Beef Jerky/Slim Jims

· Energy Bars

· Hot Sauce (Tabasco, Red Devil, etc.) - wrap glass bottle in duct tape and place in doubled zip-lock bags

· Sunflower seeds

· Peanuts

· Seasoning Salt (Lawry's, etc.)

· Candy

· Powdered Energy/Electrolyte Replacement Drink Mix (Gatorade, etc.)

· Chewing Gum

· Avon Skin So Soft - great for removing face paint and also reputed to be an effective bug repellant (the latter seems variable based on personal experience and reports)

· Lotion

· Batteries

· Personal Hygiene Gear: Disposable Razors, Toothbrush and Tooth Paste

· Eye Drops (Visine, etc.) for flushing dust and sand out of the eyes

· Zip-Lock style Plastic Storage Bags - assorted sizes, heavier freezer style are better

· Pre-paid Phone Cards

What not to bring:

· Anything that melts (chocolate)

· Waterless Hand Cleaner/Sanitizer - generally makes mud, wipes are preferred

· Flashlights - Everybody has one and never gets to use it due to visible light discipline restrictions.

· Sun Screen - already issued in mass quantities, drowning in the stuff

· Liquor of any sort

Pleases be sure that all items brought in for the troops are new and unused. Depending on how many donations we receive we will box them up like 'survival kits' and send them to the troops. If you have a specific unit you would like a care package sent to, please be sure to bring the unit's overseas APO address.

We will also take up a collection of toys for The Shelter for Abused Women and Children of Naples. Christmas is coming up, let's make sure the mothers and kids in our local shelter all get some gifts.

Some gift ideas:

New or lightly used toys

Younger kids will like matchbox racecars, Legos, Lincoln logs, puzzles, arts and crafts, dolls, teddy bears.

A good gift idea for teens might be movie tickets, music CD's or DVD's, video games or mp3 players.

We understand that times are hard right now and we don't have the money to go out and spend money on our own children let alone others we don't know so we are not asking you spend too much money. If you have a lightly used mp3 player, or DVD player and for moms Blow dryers, curling irons, etc. you are not using anymore bring it in.

If you cannot afford to bring a gift we will put a collection plate for both causes and people can donate whatever they can. With the money we will go out and purchase gifts based on recommendations from the shelter. Also with money raised for the troops we will donate it to the USO Operation care package.

You're support is appreciated and very important. Let's continue to show that the Naples Tea Party cares about this nation and our fellow citizens. Our message is resonating with people and they are paying attention. We are not fading away so do not believe what the mainstream media and statists in the government tell you.
