Carl Jung: The Universal Mind and its Archetypes

Details

Take a break from Existentialism and believe in something.

Join as we explore the work and ideas of Freud’s most creative colleague. Is the Universal Mind that of Spinoza and Monism? Does a universal mind exclude the possibility of the repression model? What did Zurich and Vienna agree on, and why is their theoretical split still being discussed today?

Our discussion will be mostly based on Jung’s “The Archetypes and the Collective Unconscious,” and will hopefully flesh out and explore the ideas of archetypes and a universal mind. While discussion of his contemporaries and other philosophers may be helpful, we will hopefully come to a good-faith understanding of Jung’s project on its own terms.

All are welcome and no background or reading is necessary!
