The concept of evil has long occupied a central place in philosophy, religion, and moral psychology. Yet in contemporary discourse, its status is contested. Some argue it remains indispensable for naming the worst forms of human wrongdoing; others see it as vague, emotionally loaded, or even dangerous.

What do we mean by “evil”? Do we still need the concept? And if so, in what form?
