This leisurely one-mile hike on the shaded, deeply wooded Inland Trail is a great way to learn about the flora and fauna of Long Hunter State Park. Summer has arrived so there should be plenty to see!
Ranger Leslie will be our guide on this trail which features sinkholes, songbirds, Sassafras and Pawpaw trees, unique plants such as trillium and mayapple and jack-in-the-pulpit, and perhaps a greater variety of hickory trees than anywhere else in the park.
Please keep in mind that this will not be a fast-paced hike. We will be stopping often to examine and discuss the natural features found along the trail. No pets, please.
Let's go exploring!
Directions to Inland Trail:
Enter Long Hunter State Park at the main park entrance (2910 Hobson Pike) and then take the third right (Upper Bluffs Area) and proceed to the parking lot. The trailhead is beside the parking lot.
