I’ll be heading to the 37th-annual Southern Festival of Books in Nashville. I’d love to see and meet both friendly and new faces from anyone in the group who’s up for it! The event is being held on October 18 & 19th this year.

Why this festival rocks:

  • It’s completely free, spread over two days—this year scheduled for October 18–19, 2025, downtown near Bicentennial Mall, the Tennessee State Museum, and the State Library & Archives
  • Expect 150–175+ authors, engaging panels, live readings, book signings—and a lively kids’ zone
  • More than 60 exhibitors featuring publishers, indie booksellers, and literary nonprofits—and yes, a beer garden and food trucks make it the perfect laid-back community fest

Cool Festival Stats & Highlights:

  • First held in 1989, it’s now one of the country’s most enduring literary festivals
  • Attendance typically hits 25,000–30,000+ people, with nearly 200 authors, 80–100 publishers, and 50–60 panels

Cost Rundown (Past Years):

  • Festival admission: 100% free, so you can explore at will.
  • If you want to feast or sip, food trucks usually range from $8–$15 per meal, and beer garden drinks are priced accordingly.
  • Want to support authors or publishers? Many vendors offer festival discounts.
