• What we'll do
Learning at the Helm (LATH) at Percy Priest Yacht Club is an introduction to sailing open to anyone 18 and older, who is interested in learning about sailing. Meet on the deck at Hamilton Creek Marina at 5:00 pm.
LATH is a PPYC program for club members, but open to the public for up to two visits to try it out.
Qualified PPYC skippers provide a basic introduction to sailboats and on-the-water sailing instruction. LATH is designed to give newcomers a great way to try out the sport of sailing.
Traffic is pretty bad at this time of day, plan for that to arrive at 5pm. We meet on the deck first for a brief orientation then boats are assigned. Usually everyone is on a boat and ready to sail by 5:20pm. You will be assigned a boat after you arrive, it is not possible for pre-assignments.
• What to bring
Dress for the weather, in layers and more warmly that you think you need to. If you have gloves, like gardening gloves, they are helpful. Wear non-skid closed toe shoes, like sneakers. Hat and sunglasses can help.
• Important to know
Because this is a popular program, MeetUp is limited to only two spots each week (the HOST spot does not count. Also, Laura, the host, will NOT be in attendance.) You may attend this meet up only twice.
