Sci Fi/Fantasy April Meet Up

Sci Fi and Fantasy Fans,

For April, the group chose the 2022 novel "Babel" by widely-read speculative fiction author RF Kuang. Set in an alternate 19th century, an important aspect of the book is the magical use of language to maintain the British Empire.

The book was not considered for the 2023 Hugo Awards which were held in China, and reporting suggests that there might be a reason for that. 2023 Hugo Awards, China and RF Kuang
