Gear Swap and Cookout: Fall edition

Due to high Demand, we are hosting two Gear Swap/Cookout events this year! (In the interest of accessibility, we will be hosting these in different regions of the Nashville metro moving forward.)

• This fall, we're going to Hendersonville!

Is this the event for me?

• Would you like to connect with other hikers in our community?
• Want to rub elbows with those trip leaders that always have a full trip?
• How about gear? Do you have a closet full of things you want to sell?
• Or maybe you're in the market for a gently used tent, quilt or tarp?
• Maybe you've had a busy summer and want to unwind over food and the company of strangers?
• Well, good news fellow hiker. The Nashville Backpacker Cookout/Gear Swap may be the event for you!

Where is this?

• The event will be held at Rockland Recreation Area, on scenic Old Hickory Lake, in Hendersonville TN. Look for Shelter #4.

Will there be food?

• Grill Meister David will transform the meat slab of your choice into delicious hot dogs and burgers for your enjoyment.

What do I need to bring?

• Pavilion tables will be for food prep and eating only, so bring a folding table or blanket if you have gear to display. Items brought to sell or trade should be backpacking or hiking related.
• Table space may be limited - folding chairs are recommended.
• Please bring a side to share, and your drink of preference!

Does this cost anything?

• This is a free event for Nashville Backpacker Meetup members, but donations will be accepted to help cover food costs and pavilion rental.

How does the gear swap work?

• Any gear purchases/sales/etc are between individuals, and are traditionally cash only transactions. Venmo has become more common in recent years, however.
• Reminder to bring a folding table if you have a lot to sell!
