Backpacking Laurel Snow State Natural Area

Hey everyone, lets go explore Laurel Snow State Natural Area with an overnight backpacking trip. This area recently had a fire, but I've confirmed all the trails are now open. In addition, the road leading into the park is now paved!

We will meet at 11:00am Central Time on Saturday May 11th and hike to Morgan Creek Campsite. This is about 9.7 miles out and back with about 1328 elevation gain, with switchbacks. You may also want to hike to Laurel Falls. There is no cost for this trip as campsites are first come first serve. Well behaved dogs are welcome. Please RSVP with integrity, as cancelling last minute keeps someone on the waitlist from attending. If I have not hiked with you before, please message me on Meetup or at 615-390-6083 within 24 hours or your spot will go to someone else. This hike is suitable for beginners who are acclimated to the mileage and elevation gain.

There should be water near the campsite at Snow Falls, depending on water levels at the time. I confirmed with the park we need to email them one email detailing the information about cars being left in the parking lot overnight. Please send me your vehicle information (license number, make, model) when you sign up if you plan on driving.

This is a "go at your own pace hike". Everyone should have a map and is responsible for their own navigation and safety. Please let me know if you have any questions!
